AI media monitoring and coverage tracking tools
Coverage tracking, alerts and clip reporting.
Monitoring is the category where the gap between demo and daily use is widest. Every tool looks good against a well-known brand name. The test is a client with a generic name, a competitor with the same name in another industry, and a chief executive who shares a name with a footballer.
That is really a precision problem, and it is what we spend most of our testing time on. A tool that catches everything and buries you is not doing the job any better than one that misses half. We look at how much configuration it takes to get a clean feed, and whether that configuration survives contact with a second client.
The second thing we weigh is what happens after the clip lands. Monitoring that ends at an email alert leaves the actual work — deduplicating, tagging, working out whether this week was better than last — exactly where it was. The tools worth paying for close that loop.
Sentiment scoring appears in nearly every product here. We treat it as a sorting aid rather than a finding, and we score transparency on whether the tool lets you audit and override it.
What to weigh
What separates the good ones.
- 01Signal to noise on alerts, which is the whole job
- 02Whether broadcast and podcast coverage is included or quietly excluded
- 03How sentiment is derived, and whether you can audit it
- 04Lag between publication and alert

Common questions
Is AI sentiment analysis accurate enough to report on?
Treat it as a sorting aid, not a finding. Sentiment models still struggle with irony, industry shorthand and coverage that is neutral in tone but damaging in substance. We score transparency partly on whether a tool lets you see and correct its calls.
Why do monitoring tools miss coverage?
Usually licensing. Large publishers restrict crawling, so tools rely on paid feeds that vary by region and format. Broadcast and podcast coverage is the most common gap, and it is rarely stated on the pricing page.
